About NMCEI

Volunteer Organizations Need Our Help

The Northern Monmouth Community Enrichment Initiative (NMCEI) provides financial support in the form of grants to qualified non-governmental programs and organizations. NMCEI strives to support initiatives that support a community’s effort to elevate the vibrancy, safety, quality of life, civic commitment and sense of place throughout Northern Monmouth County, NJ.

Why Do We Do This?

Organizations primarily run by volunteers and students that support community and school initiatives are always in need of financial support. NMCEI strives to provide a resource not encumbered by the limitations that may occur in local government. With a streamlined, first-come, first-qualified model, groups and individuals with demonstrable needs will be able to apply during the application period (December 1 through April 31) for funding for their groups, projects and programs.

Examples of groups and organizations that can apply for the NMCEI Micro-Grant Program include:

COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATIONS

Volunteer Organizations are typically born from a need that people want to meet within their community. We understand the need for funding, especially during the early stages of forming a Volunteer Organization. NMCEI wants to help.

RECREATION AND SCHOOL ORGANIZATIONS

Community enrichment is often realized in youth school, sports and recreation organizations. These organizations are commonly run by parent and community leader volunteers, faculty members and students. Enrichment is realized through increased physical activity, through the formation of social and community bonds, proven improvement of academic performance and potential and charachter-building in learning how to face and overcome challenges. Supporting youth recreation groups sits at the core of NMCEI’s mission.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT GROUPS

Support Groups could include groups of people who support the citizens of their community, most commonly on a volunteer basis. Examples include Women’s or Men’s support groups, youth programs, Scout programs and groups, environmental groups, etc. This is a broad category. If you think your organization is a non-profit community support group, it very well could be and you should apply for a grant.

CULTURAL ORGANIZATIONS

Cultural organizations that contribute to the enrichment of its community could qualify for the micro-grant program. These organizations often help citizens that need quality-of-life assistance. NMCEI is working to formulate special assistance and grant programs for organizations like these.

PUBLIC SAFETY ORGANIZATIONS

Volunteer Public Safety Organizations are particularly vulnerable to the financial pressures of keeping their training and equipment up to date. Many communities rely on these organizations and the selfless service of its members to keep a community safe. Some examples include volunteer first aid squads, fire departments, community emergency response teams, etc.
