Would You Like To Help Bring a Theater and Arts Center to Keyport, NJ
A group of artists, musicians, stage performers and art admirers that have long sought an opportunity to bring a theater and arts center to the Borough of Keyport.
The Project Mission
Originally, this project was created to Raise funds to purchase the Saint Mary’s Church property on East Front Street in Keyport, NJ and convert the Church building into a multi-purpose theater, arts center and reception space to showcase the talent of the artists in Keyport and the surrounding area. A supporter stated that “while we were not successful in purchasing the historic Saint Mary’s Church, we did find that the interest to bring a theater to the heart of Keyport was strong. The effort to provide a space to celebrate the long history of Keyport as an Arts, Culture and Entertainment Hub is a noble one.”
Building On A Foundation of Art and Culture
Keyport Borough has been a center for artists for decades. In 2016, the Monmouth County Master Plan identified the Borough of Keyport as a recognized Arts, Culture, and Entertainment (ACE) Hub. Throughout its history, Keyport has been a destination for artists and enthusiasts alike. Is has been and remains the hometown of many notable performers and visual artists. The East Front Street Theater Project Team will build on this foundation to centralize performance and visual arts in the Borough, thereby enhancing the ACE Hub status as recognized by Monmouth County.
